Be transported back

                               where grey is predominant colour.
White proved too harsh, footage disfigured.

Caution adheres when lack creates havoc with presence.
Expectations are impossible to read at remoteness. Crossing is fraught.

                                                             §

Fresh mandarin segments await on the opposite side, room darkened.
Do you find forests familiar? There was no plan, no need for restraint.

Intimacy continues where we left off. People, places change in the interim,
which grew too great to contain. Lost, opportunities disperse.

                                                             §

Speechlessness in the presence of yesterday causes pain, cyclical.
Do what you feel or do what you know must be done.

                                                             §

Survival on trail isn't that simple. Frogs litter the path.
Two herons stare mournfully into pond.

It moves on, hesitant, weary minutiae of daily existence.

Black twigs

                                              form skeleton of hedge.
Beads, scraps of cloth, feathers,
strength for the journey.

Twisted by conjecture,
secret lives of objects are found,
driven by metaphor.

Third circle looks pretty cheerful from here,
your voice a reminder.

Flutes shriek at times, you know.
Are you going to tell me this was intentional?

Music slows to point of collapse,
spattered with reminiscence, open windows,
sliver of finely tuned, feel-good air.

Since when is light bothersome?
Haven't you noticed?

Holes in the walls have been filled.

Black ice underfoot

                dictates a certain caution,
wearing of high traction boot.

What did you wish to accomplish
crossing border between theatre and real,
comparing coal soot with ash?

Feel that pulse, reedy, erratic.

Focus on shivering branches while
avoiding cracks, slick on path.
