Tom Montag
from NOTEBOOK: NEW MEXICO
January, 2016 - Highway 70
Near Mile Marker 351
A stone
building
collapses.
All Raven
does is
watch.
Mile Marker 368
Raven tells me
Trickster lives
in my own heart.
Trickster tells me,
Don't listen to Raven.
Mile Marker 374
Raven waiting
in the sun.
Doing nothing
is always work
and his work
is never done.
Mile Marker 386
This is not about
New Mexico,
the Trickster says.
It's about you.
Tom Montag is the author of In This Place: Selected Poems 1982-2013, This Wrecked World, and The Miles No One Wants.
