in the beginning i was a possibility
that never materialized
in the end
                   i never mattered

the envelope waits
like an accusation
its contents sealed
behind one direction
her spirit  a bee
outside a closed window

when the phone rang
i didn't answer
when the text came
i did not respond
& now this message
labeled only east
i hold it in both hands
well past midnight



for those who celebrate excess

               in the words i remove
