Ric Carfagna
from Symphony No. 11 (the inner recesses)
16.
Theories of eschatology
of shadows
of walls
of stains on the pavement
illumined by candlelight
of voices
behind a iron veil
of the significance
of distance
of clouds
of visceral architecture
housing a depth
of flesh and breath
further isolated
from a celestial deity’s
latent embrace
and this…
in the atmosphere
of a cathedral
holding evening
as it enters in
alcove windows
as voices return
to prayer
to interpret
this theory
as it appears
isolated
in a mirror
distorted
along a splintering
line of singular sight
Ric Carfagna was born and educated in Boston Massachusetts. He is the author of numerous collections of poetry, most recently: Symphonies Nos. 5, & 9 published by White Sky Books-
