INFORMATION
Listens to the doors approach. The lines they drag behind them can be neither tied nor spoken. When we follow them we discover distance where the page had always seemed too flat to enter.
INFORMATION
First found the bears in stories about frogs and bees. First found the woman in a story about a house in the woods. First found the machine buried beneath the forest floor. First found the wings on a man with no nose.
INFORMATION
The door can be opened with a key or numbers or a series of words. The field can be opened with machines that seem too simple to work. The forest is never opened, not unless they want to let out the bears.
INFORMATION
Knows which animals to be afraid of, and which should not be eaten. Knows which road to take and how far to go. Knows that the houses are not what they seem. Knows how to draw, eventually.
INFORMATION
Listens to the first bride after she has been replaced. Takes the second bride with him to the mountains. Chooses the third bride from the women who sleep there. Chooses the fourth bride from the bears who came to watch.
INFORMATION
The story they were told was incomplete. There were bears, of course, but they were the wrong kind of bears. And the woman who knocked on the door had the wrong kind of hair.
INFORMATION
The play continues even though no one is watching. The words that were learned make no sense when the order in which they are spoken is changed. Sometimes the preacher becomes a bear and the bride a swarm of hornets. Sometimes the house is a cave. There are never any windows.
INFORMATION
The chinese wagon was a different color. The animals inside were made of paper. The horizon approached whenever the wagon was moved.
INSTRUCTIONS
The small boxes were smaller when the light hit them. Each was really a sphere, or a pyramid. They followed the instructions as much as they were able.
INFORMATION
That was written before writing was standardized, before red became blue, and the cube was more than a bunch of squares.
INFORMATION
Seems to know the chemistry of the laundry, the chemistry of the bees, the chemistry of the maple trees. Seems to know what angles are required to build the silos.

In the spring the owls bloomed and the wheels turned more slowly. In the spring the woman's hair reached all the way to the sea. In the spring there were bears singing and a tree that finally opened its eyes.
