PASCAGOULA

Car alarms illuminate our passage as I remember the man once stabbed here; our hamburgers dressed only with mayonnaise that day. Elvis never came this far. They were all like the reeds; swaying together, secure. But we were like the air and it always seemed to be that way. Martin Luther didn’t seem so far then, did he? One day, maybe we’ll reminisce and say we were there, or someone will ask us where we’ve come from, our eyes breaking contact as we lie through crooked teeth, but only for one second.

Eric Leighton McKneely – born in Monroe, Louisiana in 1990, now living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Nursing school dropout currently working in a sex store.
